Referee Andy D'Urso has admitted he was wrong to send off Stoke City defender Andy Griffin in the 3-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.
Griffin was dismissed after 42 minutes of the Championship clash at Loftus Road after a challenge on Hogan Ephraim.
However, having watched the incident via television replays, D'Urso has reconsidered his decision and his opinion will be submitted to a Football Association regulatory commission on Tuesday.
"The Football Association have confirmed to Stoke City that the referee has reconsidered the matter after watching the incident again," FA administrator Eddie Harrison told Stoke's official website.
"His views will be submitted to the regulatory committee tomorrow along with the submission from the club.
"It doesn't automatically mean his suspension will be uplifted, but the fact that he has now indicated that the matter was only worthy of a caution stands us in good stead."
