West Brom striker Kevin Phillips has been named the best player in the Championship this year at the Football League awards.

The former Sunderland, Southampton and Aston Villa forward has been handed the accolade after hitting 17 goals this season as West Brom chase promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford was named the best player in League One and the 24-year-old also won the goal of the year award for his stunning strike while on loan at Scunthorpe.

Milton Keynes Dons captain Keith Andrew has been named League Two's player of the year as he has helped Paul Ince's side to top spot in the division.

Wolves winger Michael Kightly collected the young player award following the 22-year-old's impressive run of form for Mick McCarthy's Championship play-off hopefuls.
