Nigerian star eyes Hull extension

Hull midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha believes he must stay fit for the rest of the season if he is to have any chance of extending his stay at the KC Stadium. The 34-year-old playmaker has endured an injury-hit spell with the Tigers, making just seven starts in the first half of the season after arriving from Qatar in September. But the former Nigeria international has returned to the starting line-up in the last two games and hopes to keep his place as Hull aim to mount an unlikely play-off challenge.

Focus

Okocha's one-year contract expires in June and the former Bolton star feels he must prove his fitness to himself and the club if he is to sign an extension. "I've got a one-year deal and the option of another year," he told the Hull Daily Mail. "If I keep playing and stay fit, who knows what will happen next year? "For me, because of my injuries, I just have to make sure I stay fit now and put my focus on playing until the end of the season."
