Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws is keen to keep Enoch Showunmi at the club for as long as possible.
The striker is on loan at Hillsborough from Bristol City, but his current one-month deal is due to expire on 1st March.
With Akpo Sodje recently ruled out for the remainder of the season, Laws knows that he desperately needs to boost his attacking options if the Owls are to climb away from their current position in the Championship drop zone.
Bristol City are believed to have agreed to a proposal to allow Showunmi to remain with Wednesday for a further three months, with the option to recall him at any time should they require his services.
"We'll be looking to extend the loan though Bristol City would be able to recall him if they hit an injury crisis." Laws told the Owls' official website.
Laws also praised the blossoming partnership which Showunmi has struck up with Marcus Tudgay since his arrival and feels that if their performance against Charlton last Tuesday is anything to go by then the duo are more than capable of firing the club to safety.
"They got more effective as the game went on," he said.
"Showunmi was starting to turn and run with the ball.
"He has good pace and strength and good feet for a big fella.
"He played some great crosses with his left foot when he pulled out wide. We were just a yard away from having the ball in the back of the net.
"If we can play to the strengths of Showunmi and Tudgay and get crosses into the box, we can upset anybody."
