Cheltenham boss Keith Downing is set to step up his efforts to extend Steve Brooker's loan spell at the club.
The striker has spent the last month at Whaddon Road as he continues his rehabilitation from a major knee operation which had kept him on the sidelines for several months.
Brooker made seven appearances for the Robins in League One, the last of which came against Swindon on Tuesday, and with the club continuing to battle against the drop, Downing is keen to agree a deal with Bristol City which will allow them to keep hold of the experienced front man.
"Steve Brooker's loan is now up but I will be speaking to Bristol City," Downing said.
"Hoepfully we can do another month because I am keen to keep him.
"He is obviously interested in going back to Bristol City if he is going to feature in their first team, but if not he wants to play as much competitive football as he can.
"He got another 90 minutes under his belt (against Swindon) with some good link up play with Steven Gillespie and Paul Connor."
