Centre-back Sam Collins has joined Hartlepool from Hull for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old has moved after making just one appearance for the Championship side this season and had a loan spell at Swindon earlier this term.
He cannot wait to get started playing for Danny Wilson's men and wants to play his part in pushing the team up the League One table.
Collins told the club's website: "I'm really looking forward to the move.
"As soon as I knew Hartlepool were in for me I wanted to make the move; I know that it's a good club that play good football so when I heard I was interested straight away.
"I wanted to come and spoke to the manager at Hull earlier in the week and it looked like he wanted to keep me there unless they got somebody else in.
"I wasn't very happy at the time because I want to be playing games but now everything is sorted - I'm here and I'm ready to play my part."
Collins, who has gone straight in to Hartlepool's squad for Saturday's game with Luton Town, added: "I've been looking on the internet to see how things have been going recently and we need to start picking up points and get ourselves in a more comfortable position and then just keep building from there.
"They're all massive games and we need to get three points; with Luton here at the weekend we need to be beating them and hopefully that can help us make Victoria Park in to a bit of a fortress."
