Sheffield United defender Leigh Bromby has completed a permanent move to Watford.

Player joins on three-and-a-half year deal

Sheffield United defender Leigh Bromby has completed a permanent move to Watford. Bromby joins the Hornets on a three-and-a-half year deal for an initial fee of around £600,000 which could rise to up to £850,000 depending on certain criteria being met such as appearances and promotion. The 27-year-old joined the Blades from city rivals Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer in summer 2004 and made 125 appearances for the club.

Surprise

The news comes as something of a surprise as Bromby had only recently won his place back in Bryan Robson's side after starting the season on the fringes of the first-team and made his last appearance against his new club on Tuesday night. The Blades recently turned down two lower bids for Bromby from other clubs.
