Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock is hoping thrash out a deal with Leeds United for Shaun Derry in the coming days.
The no-nonsense midfielder is currently on loan with The Eagles, but is due back at Elland Road shortly.
Warnock, whose arrival has coincided with an upturn in form at Selhurst Park, is keen to retain Derry's services permanently and is now looking to agree a fee.
"We're in dialogue with Leeds and will be over the next few days," he said following Palace's 2-0 win over Bristol City.
"We think Shaun would like to come and I think Dennis Wise would like him to come.
"There will be a few ins and outs over the next 10 days although I have had no enquiries for my players - they're obviously not good enough for anyone else so they'll have to stay here."
