Leicester City manager Ian Holloway has played down talk two of the club's players could leave in January.

Rising star Joe Mattock and experienced defender Gareth McAuley have been linked with moves away from the Walkers Stadium.

A Premier League outfit have reportedly tabled an offer for 18-year-old Mattock while Ipswich have already seen a bid for McAuley shunned.

Holloway is against losing either of the duo and believes the interest in his players only serves to highlight their quality.

"I don't deal with speculation," he told the Leicester Mercury. "It's the maddest time of year, but it means we have some half-decent players if people are talking about them.

"Joe Mattock is a very good player - a Leicester City player.

"Gareth McAuley has been excellent since I have been here. He will learn and improve in a regular system and a regular team."
