Starlet rewarded with new deal, striker leaves

QPR youngster Angelo Balanta has signed a two-and-a-half year contract after making the first-team breakthrough at Loftus Road this season. The 17-year-old Colombian striker, who has made three appearances for Luigi De Canio's side, has committed himself to the West Londoners until the summer of 2010. "I am very grateful to the club and especially to Mr De Canio, who has shown faith in me already this season," he told the club's official website. "I just want to establish myself in his first-team plans as soon as possible." Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that Shabazz Baidoo, who has not figured for the Rs this season, has had his contract terminated by mutual consent. The 19-year-old made 33 appearances for Rangers, scoring three goals, but he has not played this season and was farmed out on loan to Gillingham late last year. The Arsenal academy product, who made headlines with a last-gasp equaliser against Leeds at the start of the 2006/07 season, has recently been linked with a move to League Two strugglers Dagenham.
