Championship strugglers Scunthorpe United have signed midfielder Grant McCann to bolster their bid to avoid the drop.
McCann joins the Iron after the second-from-bottom club had an undisclosed six-figure bid for the player accepted by Championship rivals Barnsley on Tuesday.
Their persistence has paid off after they had an earlier move for McCann turned down just after the transfer window opened.
The Northern Ireland international played 34 games, scoring three goals, for the Tykes since moving to Oakwell in 2006 in a £100,000 deal.
McCann began his career at West Ham and has played for Livingston, Notts County and Cheltenham.
His signing takes the Iron's spending this term to more than £1 million after signing players Martin Paterson, Kevin Hurst, Jonathan Forte and Paul Hayes.
