U's bag defender from cash-strapped Luton
Colchester United have completed the capture of Luton Town captain Chris Coyne.
The U's are believed to have paid around £350,000, a club record fee, for the Australian defender.
Luton, who are currently in administration, were forced to sell the 29-year-old due to mounting debts.
Coyne, formerly of West Ham and Dundee, is expected to go straight into the Colchester squad to face high-flying Bristol City this weekend.
"It's great news for the club," explained manager Geraint Williams to the East Anglia Daily Times.
"Chris is a defender with experience and leadership qualities."
