McCarthy takes a closer look at Karlsons
Wolves have taken Latvia international Girts Karlsons on a two-day trial as boss Mick McCarthy looks to rectify his side's problems in front of goal.
McCarthy's men currently lie 10th in the Championship and have struggled for goals - netting just 24 times in 26 matches.
Karlsons is out of contract at present, and boasts a record of 63 goals in 129 games for his previous club Metalurgs.
Very strong
The 22-year-old's agent Jens Steffensen believes Karlsons would be more than capable of performing in the Championship.
"He's a very good 'box' player, and at 6ft 2ins tall, he's very good in the air," he said in the Express & Star.
"Technically, he's very strong and he has everything it takes to be a very good striker in England, especially the Championship."
