Colchester assistant Adams leaves club

Geraint Williams is still trying to bring Chris Coyne to Colchester United, although assistant manager Micky Adams has left Layer Road. Luton Town defender Coyne is a prime target for Williams, with the Championship strugglers having a club record bid rejected last week. Colchester boss Williams will make another attempt to sign the Australian, but feels his side's league position is hampering his efforts to recruit new players. "We are still attempting to sign Chris Coyne," Williams, whose team are 23rd in the table, told the East Anglian Daily Times.

Not helping

"I'm trying to sign new players, but so are all clubs from all the divisions. "It's all condensed into this one month, and we have to attract the players to this club, although our league position is not helping." Meanwhile, Colchester have confirmed that Williams' No 2 Adams has left his position with immediate effect. The former Fulham and Coventry boss joined the club last summer to replace Mick Harford, but has now moved on.
