Slovakian defender makes Turf Moor move

Burnley have signed defender Stanislav Varga on loan from Sunderland. Varga has been allowed to leave the Stadium of Light as he is well down the pecking order in Roy Keane's plans. The former Celtic defender has not featured for Keane's side this season and he has been looking for a move away to secure regular first-team football. Varga could be involved for Burnley in this weekend's FA Cup tie with Arsenal and Clarets boss Owen Coyle was delighted to land the big defender. "I'm delighted to get Varga on loan," said Coyle. "I have known him for years, both from when I played him and during my time as a coach and manager. "In the light of our injuries and suspensions, we will bring a physical presence to the backline. "I'm sure he will compliment the squad and have a big impact on the team."
