Dean Gerken somehow kept out Freddy Eastwood's header from Darron Gibson's cross, although he was powerless to deny Elliott's rebound.Colchester continued to press after the interval and nearly snatched a late equaliser, but Kemal Izzet's shot struck hit the upright.
