Young Blackpool defender makes loan switch

Young Blackpool defender Phil Doughty has moved to League Two outfit Macclesfield on loan. The 21-year-old, who has found it hard to break into the Championship side's first team squad, has joined Macc until 9th December. He joins Seasiders team-mate Simon Wiles on loan at the club and is expected to go straight into their squad for the trip to Rushden and Diamonds in the first round of the FA Cup on Saturday. Blackpool boss Simon Grayson told the club's official website: "It will do Phil the world of good, he will be in and around the first team squad and hopefully he will get some first team football under his belt.

Opportunity

"He did well towards the end of last season when he went out to Barrow and this is another opportunity for Phil. "We regularly check on Macclesfield with Simon Wiles being there and Tony (Parkes) is in regular contact with Asa (Hartford) about both Simon and the League in general." Doughty made Blackpool history when he became the youngest player to have played in the FA Cup in 2002. But injuries have since hampered his progress and he has failed to break into the Seasiders' team this season.
