A host of clubs are keeping a close eye on George Elokobi's situation at Colchester, skysports.com understands.
The left-back has really come to the fore this season and has become one of Geraint Williams' top performers.
A number of clubs, including at least two from the Premier League, have attended Layer Road to watch Elokobi and have been highly impressed with the 21-year-old.
The Cameroon-born stopper only arrived in England in 2002, but he soon worked his way into non-league football and was spotted by Colchester in 2004 playing for Dulwich Hamlet.
After a loan spell with Chester in 2005, he is now established and Colchester are looking to tie him down to a new deal.
Skysports.com understand the club are due to meet with his representatives in the near future with the hope of sealing his signature on a long-term contract.
