Lithuania will appeal the two-match ban given to Saulius Mikoliunas for diving against Scotland.

Winger's 'simulation' suspension to be contested

Lithuania are set to appeal against the two-match ban given to Saulius Mikoliunas for diving against Scotland earlier this month. Uefa studied video evidence of the Hearts winger 'simulating' to win a penalty for his country and decided to suspend him for two games, a sanction the Lithuanian Football Federation will now contest. Speaking to BBC Sport, Lithuanian federation president Liutauras Varanavicius confirmed they will be appealing and revealed his personal surprise that other incidents in the game went unnoticed. "We will be seeking a full and proper explanation of the rationale for the severity of suspension as well as an explanation as to why other similar incidents in the same match have gone unpunished." Mikoliunas is set to miss Lithuania's Euro 2008 qualifiers against France and Ukraine because of the ban.
