Chris Weale has agreed a contract to stay at Bristol City until the end of the season.
The goalkeeper had been on month-to-month terms at Ashton Gate as he sought to prove his fitness after a knee injury.
He has now convinced Gary Johnson that he is worthy of a longer-term deal and is happy to commit his future to the club.
"I am delighted it is all sorted and I can concentrate fully on my football," Weale told the club's official website.
Robins boss Johnson believes the new contract is the 'ideal arrangement' for the Championship side and Weale.
Johnson said: "Chris has done really well for us in the games he has played, although I already knew what he was capable of.
"We kept him on a month-to-month deal to assess his fitness really and now he has signed until the end of the season, which is an ideal arrangement for everyone concerned."
