New signing aims to take Hoolahan's place

Andy Welsh is ready for the challenge of ousting Wes Hoolahan from the Blackpool team. Former Sunderland winger Welsh moved to Bloomfield Road before the close of the transfer window and is awaiting his Blackpool debut. Welsh is aware that Hoolahan is blocking his path into Simon Grayson's side, but he is not fazed by the task in front of him. "I've been in similar situations before," he told the Blackpool Gazette. "I was up at Sunderland and there was a certain player called Julio Arca who was a massive favourite with the crowd. "But I went up to Sunderland and did my bit up there, the fans got behind me and he ended up moving on and things go from there...not that I'm saying Wes is going to move on! "Obviously I know about Wes, and I've seen already that he's a very good player. I can play on the right as well...though I'm not doing down whoever plays on the right for Blackpool. But obviously Wes plays on the left and so you have to look at other options. "It's just up to me to prove I can do a job, get in the manager's thoughts and hopefully be involved against Burnley."
