Palace defender could leave due to lack of games

Crystal Palace defender Danny Butterfield may quit Selhurst Park if he is not able to break into Peter Taylor's starting line-up. Butterfield has made over 150 appearances for the Eagles since joining in 2002 but has grown increasingly frustrated by the lack of first-team action. Speaking in the Croydon Advertiser, the 27-year-old said: "I'm very frustrated I haven't been playing. "I thought I had a good pre-season. I was raring to go, but so far I have just been sat waiting for my chance. It's not a pleasant time for me. "I haven't really spoken to the manager about it. I was told at the start of the season Matty Lawrence would be starting at right-back, so I knew I'd have to wait for my chance. But time's running out."

Priorities

The former Grimsby defender has only started two Championship games since February and admits that he may have to move in order to get some games. "My priority is to play football, wherever that may be," he said. "We'll just have to wait and see. "Going on loan to get some football under my belt is an option. If I'm not offered a new contract, I'm going to have to find another club."
