Cardiff have been dealt a double injury blow with the news that Riccardo Scimeca and Steven MacLean face lengthy spells on the sidelines.
Summer signing MacLean ruptured ankle ligaments in a reserve-team outing on Tuesday and he faces up to three months on the sidelines.
Scimeca has suffered a setback in his recovery from a groin operation and he faces a further spell out of action.
Bluebirds boss Dave Jones admitted it was a major blow to lose the duo and conceded he may be forced into the transfer market to replace them.
Blow"Its a massive blow for both players and the club and I'll have to sit down with the chairman to discuss bringing somebody in," Jones told the South Wales Echo.
"Steve will be out for three months and Riccy has torn a muscle in the same part of the groin.
"He gets to a certain level and it breaks down again, he will see a specialist today and we will know more later."
