Colchester United midfielder Kevin Watson is on the comeback trail after the 'worst' injury of his career.
Watson has not played for the Championship club this season after picking up an Achilles injury in the summer.
He is now ready to step up his bid for a playing return after being given the go-ahead to begin fitness work.
The 33-year-old is hoping his injury has now cleared up, but he is determined not to rush his return to action.
"This is probably the worst injury I've had in my career," Watson told the Gazette.
"But I think the problem has virtually gone and I hope to be able to start my fitness programme.
"I will know myself when I'm fit enough to be available and I want to be 100% before I return."
