Ipswich midfielder Gavin Williams is facing up to four months on the sidelines after damaging ankle ligaments.
Williams ruptured his medial ligament in Town's friendly win over Panathinaikos on Sunday.
Scans have confirmed the severity of the injury and the Welsh international will be out of action for three to four months.
"Gavin has ruptured the medial ligament in his ankle," Ipswich physio Matt Byard told the club's official website.
"It's still very swollen and he will have physiotherapy to help reduce the soft tissue swelling.
"He will be on crutches for a while and will be regularly monitored through his recovery period.
"It's difficult to be precise with a date for his return to full action but at the moment we are looking at three to four months."
