Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws has stated he is still in the market for a new striker, after conceding his current crop are feeling the pressure.
The Owls chief has been scouring the transfer market for fresh recruits but as yet, his search has proved fruitless.
A pre-season of thwarted bids has not sat well with the Hillsborough faithful and at the weekend, in a pre-season defeat to Birmingham, it was Leon Clarke that bore the brunt of their collective frustration.
Laws admits he was disappointed to see a player singled out for criticism, lamenting: "It's slightly disappointing the supporters have jumped on Leon Clarke, who has worked extremely hard in pre-season to get his fitness.
"Things aren't quite going for him at the moment, but if you support the football club you support the players as well and Leon is doing his best.
"I think the fact we have not secured a new striker yet has probably put a bit of extra pressure on the strikers we've got at the moment and maybe that's why the supporters are like that."
