Preston manager Paul Simpson insists that Patrick Agyemang's knee injury is not as serious as the club first feared.
Agyemang, who scored seven goals in 33 appearances last season, picked up the injury in Preston's 1-1 friendly draw with Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday and there were concerns the striker would be sidelined for the start of the new campaign.
Simpson, though, says the 26-year-old should be fit for 11th August when Preston begin their Championship season against Norwich at Deepdale.
"It is nothing serious, he just got a whack on the knee," Simpson told Clubcall.
"It was a bit of a shame really because he was actually due to come off a minute earlier.
"I think it was more the contact, the lad just caught him on his knee with his studs.
"We don't think there is any ligament damage but we will see how he is in the next 24 hours."
