Norwich manager Peter Grant admits he is confused about the future of Youssef Safri.

The Moroccan midfielder has been linked with a move away from Carrow Road with West Brom, Charlton and Southampton reported as possible suitors.

Safri has previously said that he is unsure about where he will begin next season.

Grant, though, has now revealed he is equally uncertain regarding the 30-year-old's status due to the conflicting work of the player's agents.

"People have questioned the Safri situation," Grant told the Eastern Daily Press.

"I've had one agent telling me Saf's staying here, then another agent says he doesn't represent him, so who does represent him?

"That's a question you're going to be asking about Saf, nobody knows."

Meanwhile, Grant has defended Darren Huckerby for his criticism of the club for selling their best players.

The striker's comments, which came after he watched Robert Earnshaw leave the club for Derby and Dickson Etuhu join Sunderland, have angered supporters and Canaries chief executive Neil Doncaster, but Grant sympathises with Huckerby.

"I understand Darren's frustration," Grant said.

"He wants to play with the best players, I want to be coaching the best players.

"He wants to be playing in the Premier League and that's where we all want to be."
