Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that Zat Knight has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

Knight had been out of contract at the Reebok Stadium following the expiration of his previous deal at the end of last season.

But a statement on the club's official website confirmed Knight has now extended his stay until the summer of 2014.

Last season proved to be a disappointing campaign for Bolton and ended in relegation from the Premier League on the final day.

The 32-year-old centre-back has played in each of the last 11 Premier League seasons and will be hoping to help Owen Coyle's men secure a return to the top flight at the earliest opportunity.

The former England international joined the Trotters from Aston Villa in July 2009 and has made over 100 appearances for the club over the course of the past three seasons.
