Derby County have signed Burton Albion defender Jake Buxton for an initial one-year spell.
Buxton, who played for County manager Nigel Clough during his time at the Pirelli Stadium, will reunite with his former boss when his current contract expires.
The 24-year-old, who is Clough's first summer signing, has the option of a one-year extension when his initial deal runs out.
Despite playing most of his football at a lower level, Clough believes Buxton will adapt quickly to the demands of the Championship.
Determined
"He will come in hoping to take his chance and give it a good go," said the County boss.
"Jake's attitude is first class and we hope he will surprise a few people. He is one of those lads who will put his body on the line and throw himself at absolutely everything.
"Jake does not have the experience at this level but he will make up for that with the desire and heart he has."
