Watford have made a club-record bid for Genoa winger Diego Perotti, according to Sky sources.

It is understood the bid is in the region of £7million - more than double their current club record of £3.2m, which they paid to sign Nathan Ellington from West Brom eight years ago.

West Ham, Inter Milan and Valencia have also been linked with the Argentine, who only moved to Serie A club Genoa from Sevilla for £250,000 last summer.

Sky sources understand Sevilla will be due 20% of any transfer fee should Perotti indeed move clubs this summer.

Perotti, who began his career at Boca Juniors before breaking into the senior ranks with Deportivo Moron, has two caps for Argentina, making his international debut when he moved to Sevilla in 2009.

Perotti could become Watford's second signing of the summer after the newly-promoted Premier League club confirmed the signing of Austria defender Sebastian Prodl from Werder Bremen.

Prodl, 27, has signed a five-year contract at the newly promoted Premier League club, having impressed in 25 appearances for Bremen this past season.
