Goalkeeper set for medical at Portman Road

Sky Sports understands Ipswich have agreed a deal with Watford to sign Scott Loach. As revealed by skysports.com in June, Ipswich were lining up a move to bring the former England Under-21 international to Portman Road. Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is in the market for a new goalkeeper after missing out Andy Lonergan and Tomasz Kuszczak already this summer. Watford are thought to be willing to offload Loach with new Hornets boss Gianfranco Zola actively looking for a new No.1 keeper. Loach has been given permission to hold talks with Ipswich and is expected to undergo a medical at the club in the next 24 hours.

Three trialists

Meanwhile, Jewell has taken three trialists on the club's pre-season tour of Holland Former Hearts goalkeeper Marian Kello, midfielder Plasir Bahamboula and defender Solialio Bakayogo, both from France, will all get the chance to impress in Holland. "The two French lads were with us last week and trained well, we wanted to have another look at them and see them in a game. They have both done well and we will see how things go," Jewell told the club's official website. "With Marian, Aston Villa were keen on him and he's a free agent. He's come over to spend the week with us in Holland and we will take it from there."
