Skysports.com understands Ipswich are in talks to sign Nathan Ellington on a free transfer.
Ellington, who ended the season on loan at Preston, is out of contract at Watford and is set to move on.
Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is keen to be reunited with Ellington having worked with the 29-year-old during his time in charge at Wigan.
Jewell is a huge fan of Ellington with the striker playing a key role in helping Wigan reach the Premier League under Jewell.
Ipswich are in the market for another striker and they see Ellington forming a partnership with Michael Chopra as they look to mount a bid for promotion.
