Adrian Mariappa believes the experiences of last season have prompted Watford's improved away form this term.

Watford have enjoyed an impressive start to the new campaign and have won three of their four Championship games on the road so far.

A return of 10 points away in total is a stark contrast to last season when the Hornets won just four times away from Vicarage Road, collecting just 18 points from 23 matches.

Mariappa, who scored in last weekend's stunning 6-1 win at Millwall, feels Watford have learned from the mistakes they made last season.

"I think our strong away record could be to do with the experiences we had last year on the road," he told the club's official website. "We have had to learn from it and that's what we've done.

"We have taken what we were not so good on the road last year, worked on it and it's starting to come together this season.

"Now we feel confident we can pick up points when we go away to big grounds."
