Adrian Mariappa has given Watford a boost by signing a new two-year deal at Vicarage Road.
The 22-year-old defender has established himself as a regular under Brendan Rodgers this season and has been quick to commit his long-term future to the Hornets.
Mariappa made 45 appearances in the Championship campaign just concluded and Rodgers is of the opinion the versatile stopper, who can play at right-back and centre-half, will continue to improve over the next few years.
"Adrian is someone I think who will grow over the next few years because of how we want to play," Rodgers told the club's official website.
"You'll start to see things in him that you may not have seen before.
"I've enjoyed working with him because he's a learner. I'm not interested in having players who think they know everything and don't want to listen and learn.
"He's the opposite to that, he's hungry and has a thirst to learn every day, he loves Watford and being here."
