Scotland international gifted Hamilton the lead in the first half when he diverted Brain Carrigan's cross into his own net. In the other game in the competition Hartlepool edged out Huddersfield 1-0. Joel Porter scored the only goal of the game just past the hour mark to give the home side a morale-boosting win. Aberdeen left trialists Cyon Camero and Sefanja Davids on the bench, while another, Jean-Francois Lecsinel, returned home because he was unfit. A youthful Watford XI recorded a 2-0 win over British Gas Southern Football League Division One South and West side Winchester City. French defender Cedric Avinel broke the deadlock for the Hornets with a powerful header in the 18th minute. Andrea Orlandi scored the only goal of the game two minutes after the break to give Roberto Martinez's men the victory.
