Watford striker Marlon King is eagerly anticipating the start of the new campaign, after missing the majority of last season with a knee injury.

King missed six months of the 2006/2007 campaign, notching up only 14 appearances.

Talking to the club's official website, King said: "I'm feeling sharp, I've been in a fair bit in the last few weeks as I'm determined to get a good pre-season under my belt.

"I just want to be as fit as I can be before the season starts, that's vital for me.

"There are so many rewards as a footballer that it's in your own best interests to look after yourself. In this day and age it's expected that you should look after your body and be ready for action on the first day back."

King recently signed an improved contract with The Hornets, quashing rumours that he could be set for a move away from Vicarage Road.
