Lee extends Watford contract

Watford goalkeeper Richard Lee has agreed a one-year extension to his contract at Vicarage Road.

Lee came through the ranks with the club, although he spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers.

This season, he has made eight appearances in the Premiership and had a run in the team in the autumn when on-loan Ben Foster was injured.

Though Foster has reclaimed the gloves, Lee was happy to add another 12 months to his deal, which ties him to The Hornets until 2009.

"I'm delighted to have added a year on to my contract," Lee told the club's official website.

"In the summer I made a pledge to my friends and my family - I wanted to come back and make a name for myself here.

"I knew what I needed to do and thankfully I've been able to do it, and this is a culmination of what has been a great first half of the season for me.

"I've been here since I was 10-years-old and I didn't want to leave, it's a great club.

"To be back involved again and to be back in the frame is brilliant."

Though Foster should start Saturday's FA Cup game at West Ham United, Lee will come into the team for next week's Premiership trip to Manchester United.
