King lands Championship gong

Marlon King, DJ Campbell and Michael Bridges have won Player of the Month awards.

Marlon King, DJ Campbell and Michael Bridges have won the Player of the Month awards for The Championship, League One and League Two respectively.

Watford striker King only netted one goal in the month, but played a key role in The Hornets claiming four consecutive Championship wins.

"Marlon's all-round game has been very impressive in the past few weeks," said chairman of the Powerade Player of the Month awards panel Chris Kamara.

"He has really been making things happen and creating lots of chances for his team-mates which is the sign of a quality striker."

Campbell's form not only helped him scoop the League One award, but also a dream move to Premiership outfit Birmingham City.

The highlight of the month for the ex-Brentford striker was the two-goal salvo that knocked Sunderland out of the FA Cup at Griffin Park.

"What a few weeks it has been for DJ Campbell," Kamara added. "His goalscoring record over the past month has been absolutely phenomenal."

Carlisle's Bridges, via the aid of regular first-team football, is beginning to display the form that earned him a £5 million move to Leeds in 1999.

"Michael Bridges is restoring his game at Carlisle after a difficult couple of seasons out with injury," Kamara concluded.
