Watford have fended off a number of clubs to complete the signing of Marlon King.Watford have fended off a number of clubs to complete the signing of Marlon King.
The likes of Sheffield United, Wolves and Portsmouth were thought to be keen on King - who has been on loan at Vicarage Road from Nottingham Forest.
King, though, has opted to remain with Watford - for whom he has bagged 12 goals so far this term.
The 25-year-old has now agreed a four-and-a-half year deal after Watford exercised their right to buy him for £500,000.
"Signing Marlon shows the intention of this club going forward," said Hornets boss Adrian Boothroyd.
"He is an important part of the platform we are building at Vicarage Road that will allow us, I believe, to become a Premier League football club.
"I am very pleased with the progress Marlon has made at the club in such a short space of time.
"He's become a firm favourite with the fans - and his professional approach and attitude has meant he has quickly become a vital member of the team.
"Marlon wants to play in the Premier League. I am committed to realising this ambition not only for Marlon, but for the thousands of Watford fans who have been waiting too long to see this club return to the top flight of English football."
