Etuhu seals comeback win

David Nugent and Dickson Etuhu helped Preston come from behind to beat Watford.

Goals from David Nugent and Dickson Etuhu helped Preston come from behind to secure three much-deserved away points against Watford at Vicarage Road.

Watford welcomed new signings Marlon King and Darius Henderson into their side and they combined after just nine minutes.

Against the tide King whipped a pinpoint cross from the right to the far post and Henderson jumped highest to head in.

Nugent ensured the Watford lead lasted just 13 minutes. Strike partner Richard Cresswell turned his man and, as the ball broke to Nugent, the defence stood off allowing the former Bury player to pick his spot.

Watford's defence fell apart ten minutes before the break and new boy Clarke Carlisle was forced to head Etuhu's looping header off his line.

Soon afterwards Etuhu ran onto a lofted through ball and blasted left-footed towards goalkeeper Ben Foster, who could only parry into the net.

After the break Watford battled desperately to get back into the game, with Henderson in particular looking lively, but they could not find a cutting edge as Preston hung on for three points.
