Swindon Town boss Andy King followed the signings of strike duo Jamie Cureton and Tony Thorpe with the new addition of Watford defender Jack Smith.

The 21-year-old joins the Wiltshire club on a free transfer after being made available by Hornets boss Adrian Boothroyd.

Smith made just 28 appearances in the past two seasons with The Hornets and despite having 12 months left on his Vicarage Road contract, Boothroyd has allowed Smith to leave for free.

One player that has been handed a future at Watford is youngster Junior Osborne after the defender signed a one-year deal with the club.

Osborne has followed fellow Hornets trainee Adrian Mariappa in putting pen to paper on a professional deal with the Hertfordshire outfit.

The 17-year-old was delighted to receive his first professional contract with Watford.

"I didn't think I would get a pro contract so early, but the manager has shown faith in me - he gave me my chance last season and I'm really pleased to have signed," Osborne told the club's official website.

Meanwhile, Nigel Gibbs has left Watford's backroom staff following discussions with Boothroyd this week.
