Swindon are expected to sign Jamie Cureton and Tony Thorpe on Friday.Swindon Town are expected to be handed a massive pre-season boost with the signing of experienced strike duo Jamie Cureton and Tony Thorpe.
The talented pair have both been informed they are surplus to requirements at Queens Park Rangers and now look likely to be heading for the County Ground.
The League One outfit have confirmed that they have received assurances from both players' agents that they will report for pre-season training on Friday.
Both players have proven pedigrees at this level and would be an impressive coup as Town boss Andy King looks to replace departing favourite Sam Parkin.
Meanwhile, Watford defender Paul Mayo looks set to join Lincoln City having rejected the overtures of Swindon.
The 23-year-old left back is expected to ink a deal at Sincil Bank on Friday - in a decision that has left King bemused.
Mayo will be a direct replacement for Macclesfield bound Kevin Sandwith, as he becomes the latest new face in a Lincoln squad that has already seen several changes this summer.
"Incredibly to me, he agreed to sign for Lincoln instead. Sometimes it is not a football choice,'' King told the club's official website.
Despite having expressed disappointment over Mayo's decision, King has revealed that he expects to unveil several new signings in the next few days - on top of Cureton and Thorpe.
"I have made a number of calls and I am pleased to say things are coming together. I am trying to assemble a squad that will excite the fans and one that will give us every chance of success this season," continued King.
"Tomorrow I will be announcing three signings and things are happening all the time.
''I hope to announce three players that will start the rebuilding process. After that, there may be two more signings on the way but I have to get the right type for this football club."
