WATFORD defender Darren Ward has provided the club with a major boost after putting pen-to-paper on a new contract.

The centre back has signed a new four-year deal that will tie him to Vicarage Road until the summer of 2005.

Ward gained valuable experience at QPR whilst on-loan during the 1999/2000 season and has developed into one of Watford's most prized-assets.

The tall 22-year-old has been a regular in The Hornets` defence this season with his performances regularly earning rave reviews.
