West Ham target 'big-name' signing and 'exciting' boss

David Sullivan has promised West Ham supporters two new signings and an "exciting" manager in the coming weeks.

The search for Sam Allardyce's successor is already under way, and joint-owner Sullivan says next year's relocation to the Olympic Stadium means candidates of real calibre are showing an interest.

No appointment is imminent, but in the meantime the club's "player recruitment team" is pressing ahead with transfer business, with one "big name" in the frame.

Sullivan told the West Ham website: "We hope to announce our first signing in the next 24 hours and follow that up with a big name in the next two-three weeks."

And on the manager search he said: "I am dedicating every waking minute to recruiting the best available manager to drive our club forwards.

"It is a constantly changing landscape but we are being absolutely thorough in our search, by speaking to representatives of a number of managers and doing our own due diligence on each one.

"Given that, I am not expecting us to make an appointment for at least a week as we must do everything we can to get this appointment right.

"What is clear from our discussions so far is that this job is attracting names it wouldn't have done five years ago. When you combine our move to one of the best stadiums in Europe in 16 months' time with the board's ambitious vision and significant transfer budget you have an extremely exciting prospect for the right man.

"I want to appoint a manager you all feel excited by and one that will honour the club's traditions and history."
