Transfer news: West Ham's Ravel Morrison says he is joining Cardiff on loan

West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison says he is joining Cardiff City on a three-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old former Manchester United midfielder has been out of favour at Upton Park for some time amid well-documented personal issues.

The player announced his move on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, stating: ''Happy to get a three-month loan @CardiffCityFC. Time to start playing some football again.''

Manchester-born Morrison was considered one of the most talented youngsters to have come out Old Trafford's academy, but he made only three substitute appearances in the League Cup under Sir Alex Ferguson before moving to the Hammers in January 2012.

The England Under-21 international has started only 12 Premier League games in over two-and-a-half years in East London, with previous loan spells at Birmingham and QPR.

Morrison has appeared just twice this season, against Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup and Southampton in the league. He could make his debut for managerless Cardiff in the Sky Bet Championship at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
