West Ham defender George McCartney is hoping to earn himself a new deal at Upton Park.
McCartney is out of contract this summer and talks over a new deal have yet to take place.
The 32-year-old, who has made 23 appearances for the Hammers this term, is determined to prove he deserves a new deal to extend his stay with Sam Allardyce's side.
"Of course I want to stay here," McCartney told the Newham Recorder. "I am not getting any younger of course, but it would be lovely to be here next season.
"Talks haven't started yet. The manager has already stated he will wait until we are mathematically safe before he starts talking as I think there are a few players out of contract.
"We will wait until that day comes and see what happens."
