Former South Africa striker is in the market for a new club

West Ham misfit Benni McCarthy has left the Premier League club by mutual consent. The 33-year-old South Africa international joined the club from Blackburn Rovers in February 2010 for an undisclosed fee on a deal that was to run until the summer of 2012. McCarthy, though, failed to produce his best form for the Hammers and was often criticised for his weight issues. The club designed a specific fitness regime for him to adhere to in the hope that they could get him back to optimum shape and form. But the club appear to have lost patience with the former UEFA Champions League winner and he has now left the club. McCarthy made 14 appearances during his ill-fated spell at the club but failed to score a single goal.
