Colchester manager Paul Lambert wants to agree a permanent deal for goalkeeper Jimmy Walker.
The 35-year-old has helped Colchester to four wins from seven games, but his initial spell on loan from West Ham expires after Saturday's home game against Tranmere.
Lambert, though, is keen to reach an agreement with the Premier League side which will allow Walker to stay.
"Jimmy Walker is an excellent goalkeeper and he's been a massive help to us since he has been here," said Lambert.
"He reminds me of Andy Goram who was a remarkable goalkeeper in Scotland and I'd like to bring him here permanently."
