West Ham defenders Danny Gabbidon and James Collins have both signed contract extensions at Upton Park.

The pair joined the Hammers from Cardiff two years ago on four-year

deals and have now agreed two-year extensions with Alan Curbishley's side.

Gabbidon missed much of last season with groin injuries and has only made the bench this term, while Collins is currently sidelined with a groin injury.

Shown faith

Curbishley has opted for Matthew Upson and Anton Ferdinand as his preferred centre back pairing this term, but has shown his faith in the Wales duo by offering them new deals.

"I am disappointed not to be in the side, but at least the new contracts show that the club wants both me and James around," Gabbidon said.

"We will both now work hard and fight to prove we are worthy of a place in the side."
